Career Resources

There are a number of resources outside of Career Coaching that I recommend my clients leverage to find career success. Discover how these services can benefit you:

LinkedIn

Consider it the modern day rolodex and then some! LinkedIn is THE networking tool that everyone needs to know how to use in order to make the most of contacts and network successfully. If you're wanting to know more about the ins and outs of LinkedIn, check out their official tutorial video.

YouCanDealWithIt.com Budget Calculator

When you find yourself in a career transition, the bills suddenly get a whole lot tighter. This online budget calculator helps you manage limited dollars while out of work.

Allison & Taylor References and Background Check

Allison & Taylor has 20 years of experience in professional reference checking and employment verification. For a moderate fee, you can find out what your past employers will say about you to a potential employee, discover what potential employers can learn about you, and take action if an employer is falsely presenting you.

LearnWebSkills.com Company Researcher

If you're looking to make a career change, you definitely want to find out about as many companies you may want to work for as possible. This site helps you find information on prospects, competitors, vendors, suppliers, customers, or other companies in almost no time.

The O*Net Program

The O*NET program is the nation's primary source of occupational information, created for the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment & Training Administration, by the National Center for O*NET Development. It has a massive database that is continuously updated and allows you to find similarities between various careers, or group career searches by industry, areas of skill, etc.

CareerOneStop.org

If you're looking for one place that features a suite of services like those mentioned above, the aptly named CareerOneStop.org is the place for you. It features a variety of web-based products funded and developed by the U.S. Department of Labor. It includes America's Career InfoNet and America's Service Locator. Each tool offers unique solutions for the increasing demands of today's labor market to meet the specialized needs of jobseekers, employers, and the workforce and education communities.

The Job Hunter's Survival Guide by Richard N. Bolles

When it comes to this book, the Miami Herald put it best: "Bolles' short, sharp tome offers triage to those job seekers who may be either flummoxed with the economy or paralyzed by indecisiveness or lack of a clear path. His folksy, familiar style and presentation are an effective tonic for jittery nerves and chronic brain freeze." You can buy it here.

Other books I recommend include Unlock the Hidden Job Market: 6 Steps to a Successful Job Search When Times Are Tough, The Four Agreements, Now, Discover Your Strengths, The Power of Intention and Guerrilla Marketing For Job Hunters.
