I was very honored to be referenced in Kate Boemeke Uptergrove’s recent St. Louis Post Dispatch column, You Gotta Have Hope…and a Little Help. While I was no means the focus of the column, Kate mentioned my recent speaking engagement with Go! Network in reference to the importance of out-of-work professionals working together to find success. I’m honored by her kind words, and would like to return the compliment – she really hits the nail on the head in her piece, writing:
I truly believe that the best way to solve a problem is to work together, which is why I often tout the benefits of working with organizations such as Go! Network, Bounce Back St. Louis, Catholic Employment Network, the Regional Collaboration Center, Missouri Career Centers, and Businesspersons Between Jobs. These organizations are definitely on your side offering help with resume and cover letter development, tips on interviewing, job listings and access to career counselors and human resource professionals.
Don’t be shy. Make the most of these opportunities. Attend meetings. Ask questions. Get involved. You never know who will help you in your job search.
As you introduce yourself to more and more people you increase your chance of meeting the right person to connect you to your next job.
