It’s amazing how much time job seekers spend answering ads. People spend hours reworking their resume so that every word fits the job description.
Ask any career counselor and they’ll tell you that doing this for every ad can be exhausting – and it’s most often to the result of either a “no, thank you” letter, or no response at all. Even more disheartening is the truth that most newspaper ads are filled with entry-level jobs, scams, and commission sales.
The bottom line is this: you have less than a 7% success rate to find a career by answering an ad.
Do any of you have any stories from responding to a help-wanted ad?
