Per recent reports, the high tech industry’s job growth rate is growing nearly four times faster than the national average!!!
According to an article I read on marketwatch.com, consumers and businesses alike are responsible for this surge:
“Consumer demand for gadgets, apps and new forms of media, coupled with businesses’ technological needs, are what’s driving high-tech employment,” said Colin Yasukochi, San Francisco-based Director of Research for Jones Lang LaSalle’s Northwest Region. “Employment in the high-tech sector is a bright spot in an otherwise gray economic picture. While not strong enough to uplift the entire national economy, high-tech strength is impacting office markets across the country with San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Baltimore experiencing the strongest growth.”
Also mentioned in the article is that the job growth in technology doesn’t look to slow down any time soon!
Now, clearly this is a specific industry. Not everyone’s a techie. But it’s never too late to learn. Now, I’m not advocating that you drop your current career and invest in tech training if technology is not one of your natural interests. But if the tech world is something that’s been a hobby in the past, maybe it’s time to turn your passion point into a career!
I’ve worked with people who have totally switched career industries in their 60’s – so if you want to do it, you can. And as this news shows, you’ll have a great chance of landing a job after you follow through!
