And now I want to point you toward yet another article that reflects my thoughts on networking and more for your career during “the most wonderful time of the year.”
The article is titled Holiday Job Search: 4 Ways To Make Merry And Land Your Next Job!, and I think it has some really great – and simple to embrace – reasons on why we should look at this time of year as a career opportunity. Here’s a quick preview of what the author has to say:
- Your competition levels drop. Other people are taking the Holidays off from networking – meaning more opportunity for you to stand out from the pack.
- Hiring takes off after the first of the year. Get yourself in the minds of hiring decision makers at the time of year when they have the power to bring in new talent.
- Opportunities to socialize abound. Parties, community gatherings, you name it! Chances to mingle with others are everywhere over the Holidays.
- The Holidays are a great time to reconnect with old contacts. This is the one time of year we intentionally take time out to see what our old roommates, childhood friends and distant relatives are up to and vice versa. Look for natural opportunities to turn these “getting back in touch” moments into job leads or networking leads.
Have you experienced first hand how the Holidays can impact your career? If so, I want to hear your story in the comments!
