People like to think that you can separate your job and your “life.”
But the reality is that your job is a major aspect of your life. It’s where you spend most of your days, and for most of us, occasional nights too. Your happiness level at work directly impacts your happiness at home.
It’s with this in mind that I suggest that your network – the people you turn to in everyday work, not to mention in times of a job search – has a major influence on your LIFE, not just your WORK.
These are the people you look to for support, inspiration and opportunity. You rely on them, and they rely on you.

I also encourage you to look at your network differently this week. Don’t just view them as “contacts” – consider them relationships that you should develop and nurture for the sake of your overall life. Do this, and I guarantee you that your network will grow in meaning and impact.
